Angel was a spin-off series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and aired on the WB Network from 1999 - 2004 for five seasons.

The character Angel first appeared on the Buffy the Vampire Series as a vampire with a soul. Angel also became a love interest for Buffy, which caused some interesting plot lines. Angel was so popular, that producers created the spin-off series Angel.

Angel was a little more 'dark' than it's sister Buffy. Angel was a cursed vampire that had a soul, which meant he wasn't your typical vampire. The Gypsy that cursed him turned him from an evil vampire, into a vampire with a heart. This gave Angel the will to do good, rather then evil. The series follows his 'break-up' with Buffy as he moves to Los Angeles. Hoping to make up for his evil past, Angel sets out to redeem himself and fight evil.
Angel is full of vampires, demons and monsters and actually built a strong audience of it's own. The ratings actually went up in it's final two years, which is why many fans were left wanting more. Personally, I think the best episodes were written in the last two years. There was some great character development and story lines that should have saved the series.
