Caprica is a series based on the Battlestar Galactica universe (2000's version, not 1970's version). Caprica is actually a 'prequel' series since it takes place 58 years prior to the Cylon attack on the colonies in the Battlestar Galactica series. The Sci-Fi Channel picked up the series (the channel will soon change it's name to SyFy) and released an extended pilot on DVD and digital download on April 21, 2009.
The new series Caprica is slated to be more drama than 'space opera' (as Battlestar Galactica was). It will stay grounded on Caprica, however the technology will be way ahead of our own. The drama is centered around two families - the Adamas (the name sound familiar?) and the Graystones. It will touch on ethical issues such as robotics an AI (Artificial Intelligence) move forward in the show. It's said that the series will also show how the early 'human-like' Cylons came to be.
The highly anticipated series is surely to be a hit. Order the pilot now and be ready for the series.
