The main character on Dead Like Me is George. She is killed while on a lunch break by a falling toilet seat from the orbiting Mir Space Station. She is told shortly after her death, that she will not be 'moving on' to that great place in the sky, but will become a grim reaper instead. Of course you can imagine that George has a tough time adjusting to the new 'role'. The series follows George's adjustments and also centers around her family and how they are taking to her death. By the second season, George seems a bit more comfortable with her role.
Dead Like Me takes on drama with a comedic edge. It's a unique series that many feel could have gone on for many more seasons.
