Dr. Michaella Quinn sets out to open her own medical practice after the death of her father. After leaving Massachusetts, Dr. Quinn (or Dr. Mike as she is sometimes called) settles in Colorado Springs and has a hard time adjusting while unexpectedly having to care for three children. I'm sure you can imagine that a woman doctor in the 1860s was not taken to very well, let alone running her own practice. The popularity of the Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman has kept in in syndication from time to time and is one of the more recent successful western series. It's unique formula isn't 'too western' or too soap-opera.
