Eureka airs on the Sci-Fi Channel and began airing in 2006.  The plot of the series follows US Marshall, Jack Carter and his teen-aged daughter Zoe. They are passing by the small Northern-Pacific town of Eureka and are involved in a strange car accident and must stay in Eureka while their car is being repaired. Within the first few days, they realize this is no 'ordinary' small town. Eureka is actually a town populated by geniuses.

Eureka also happens to hold a highly top-secret, highly technological government facility as well. This often adds a science fiction element to the show which is cleverly woven into each story. Jack Carter, although not a 'genius', ends up staying in Eureka to become their new Sheriff. Many people have 'secrets' within the town and there are many strange happenings as well. Most of the stories are wrapped up within the episode...but they also lend to pushing the overall 'main' story of the season forward. The writing is unique and they mange to make Sheriff Carter's new house (called SARAH) a 'character' as well.

As of June 2009, two full seasons have aired. The writer's strike in 2008 interfered with the third season and only half of the ordered episodes were completed and aired. The remaining 10 episodes for season three are set to air on Sci-Fi Channel in July 2009.
