Futurama is an animated series that aired on the FOX Network from 1999 - 2003. In 2007, producers dusted off the series and created four 'straight to DVD' movies.

Futurama is actually an animated comedy series along the same lines as The Simpsons. Futurama follows the series' main character Philip J. Fry as he adjusts to his new surroundings. Fry was a pizza delivery boy and is accidentally cryogenically frozen while celebrating New Years Eve 2000. Fry is 'thawed' on New Years Eve 2999, 1000 years later.

Fry obviously can never return to his own time, so he must adjust to living in 31st Century New York City. The New York City in the show is actually built on the Old New York City's runins. Most of Futurama's humor is woven with the technological advances that Fry deals with. Fry isn't the 'sharpest tool in the shed', which makes for even more humor and crazy antics.

The writers have free reign on poking fun of things in Futurama. They make fun of politics, ecology, cultures and even the show itself. These DVD sets are ones you can watch over and over and still find something new to laugh at.
