The Golden Girls is a situation comedy that follows the lives of four women in their 'Golden Years'. The first seasons finds Dorothy, Rose and Blanche as roommates in a Miami home. Soon Dorothy's mother Sophia moves in after a fire at her retirement home (Shady Pines) forced her out. While all four characters on Golden Girls were 'senior citizens', the series appealed to many age demographics. In a way, this series paved the way for shows like Sex and the City. The four Golden Girls often talked about men and their sexual escapades (ok, that was mostly Blanche) and had to resolve relationship issues. The four women had distinctively different personalities, which adds to the fun of the show. Sophia's wise cracks are priceless.
Golden Girls is a classic and still holds up well in the current time. The jokes are not only geared to the older generation, so many people will find this series enjoyable.
