Invasion aired on the ABC Network for one season in 2005-2006.

Invasion - The Complete Series

Invasion first aired on Wednesday nights on ABC right after the science fiction/drama hit Lost. Invasion also follows the science-fiction/drama formula, but it failed to connect with viewers. Invasion is set in a South Florida town just as a major hurricane strikes the area. Strange lights are witnessed during the storm that seem to be dropping into the ocean, just off-shore. Soon after the storm, the few missing people turn up, but are a bit 'different'. As it turns out, the lights during the hurricane were actually creatures from another planet. The creatures actually find human 'hosts' and snatch them, copy them, and kill them. While some of new 'hybrid' creatures appear to have the same memories as the human host, some do not adjust well to their new bodies. Civil unrest of the new 'hybrids' cause multiple divides.

Invasion is a take on the classic 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' plot, but this series spends more time on character development and raises many social questions. The series was well written and can appeal to the sci-fi fan, along with the drama fan. Maybe ABC should have given the series another season to find it's audience.
