Lost is a TV series that helped ABC regain some of it's popularity when it first aired. Not only does Lost contain some really cool sci-fi elements, but it is based heavily in character development. This unique formula allows fans of all genres to enjoy Lost. Lost also takes on a unique narrative to tell it's stories. By the use of flashbacks and flash forwards, the viewers are given clues and details on each character. While some viewers find this method confusing, this element is actually what makes this series one of the best on TV.
In the pilot, a jet mysteriously crashes in the South Pacific on an uncharted island. The survivors cling to the idea of rescue but do take steps to survive the 'long haul'. Sounds easy right? Well this is no ordinary island. Some of the survivors have changed since the crash. One that was paralyzed, can not walk. Terminal cancer is not gone. What else does this island have in store? A smoke monster, hostel 'other' inhabitants, a mysterious hatch...these are only a few of the things the survivors have to deal with in the first season.
Lost was planned for only a six season run, which allowed writers to have a definite ending that makes sense. Once season four hits, the answers to questions come flowing and you need to hold on for one great ride.
