Moonlighting starred Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis as private detectives. Moonlighting wasn't your typical detective show. Many actually see Moonlighting as a 'spoof' of the detective show genre. The show mixed drama with comedy (much of it physical). The two main characters always seemed to argue in the show, but managed to stay on task and get the job done.
Moonlighting centered around the 'Blue Moon Detective Agency' in which Madeline "Maddie" Hayes and David Addison worked. The show always played off the sexual tension of the two with sharp dialogue and interesting story lines. The series often broke the '4th wall' of television by having the characters refer to the audience, writers, producers or the show itself. It's a truly unique detective show that is classic mid-to-late 1980's. Much of the overall tone, however is timeless.
