Surface - The Complete Series DVD
Surface was originally supposed to air as a mini-series, but good ratings led to a full season pick-up. Surface follows a sci-fi mystery that is slowly unraveled over the course of the show, but when it was canceled, left many fans angry at the 'cliff-hanger' ending. It's obvious that the producers didn't think they would be canceled and were hoping for a second season.
Surface centers around the emergence of 'unknown' species of giant sea creatures. The mystery of the show is a 'where did these things come from' and 'were they created by humans for another purpose' aspect. Surface gives viewers a few different perspectives. One is from a scientist that wants to find out more, one is from a teen that raises one of the creatures from it's birth and one is from the government. Surface had some great potential and could have easily ran for one more season to wrap up some of the story. While you might be left wanting more at the end of the DVD set, the overall story is interesting and the characters help move the story along.
