The Greatest American Hero aired on the ABC Network for three seasons (1981 - 1983).

The Greatest American Hero wasn't your typical 'hero' saves the world TV series. The series mixed a little slapstick in with each episode and was quite unique at the time. The Greatest American Hero was only on the air for three years, but it developed a huge cult following.

The plot of the series follows high school teacher Ralph Hinkley (William Katt). In the pilot, Ralph is visited by an alien via a UFO and is given a special suit that gives the person wearing it special powers. Sounds very familiar right? Well, the special suit comes with instructions on how to use it and every power it contains. Ralph accidentally loses the instructions, which means he has no idea on how to use the suit. The most iconic scenes of the series come from Ralph discovering how to use the suit...usually in the wrong way. He has the worst time learning how to fly and usually has quite a hard time staying in the air and landing on steady footing.

The trial and error method of learning how to use the suit leads to endless gags and the writers use interesting plots to poke fun of this. The Greatest American Hero is still remembered today along with the popular theme song "Believe It or Not" sang by Joey Scarbury. The Greatest American Hero is pure 80's fun.
