Veronica Mars centers around the character of the same name. The series started with Veronica as a high school student and followed her as she started collage. Veronica Mars might appear to be another one of those teen drama series, however, it was quite the opposite. Sure, there was some high school and early adult drama, but Veronica was actually working part-time as a private investigator. Her father, being her P.I. mentor, helped her throughout the series.
Veronica Mars had a small twist on the typical private eye series. Not only would she solve the 'mystery of the week', but that smaller mystery would usually contribute to an overall bigger story arch spanning the whole season. Season one starts off with Veronica's best friend being murdered. This event leads Veronica to want to solve the murder and she begins to work at solving her own mysteries. Veronica Mars was a critics darling and won many awards. It was a smart show that could have went on a few more seasons and still would have managed to stay fresh.
